The most common search tool is the Search Engine. Search Engines use programs or intelligent agents, called robots, to actually search the internet for pages, which they index using specifics paramaters as they read the content. The agent will read the information on every page of your site and then follow the links. To register with search engines you simply submit your URL on their submission form. Even if your URL is not registered with search engines, they will eventually find you since these robots are continually roaming the internet looking for new sites to index. These robots will periodicall visit your site looking for changes and updates.
Some search engines cannot follow image map links. If you only have these links on your home page, some search engines won't be able to read all of your pages. Make sure that your page is easy to navigate with hyperlinks. This will ensure that search engines will find all of your pages.
Some internet marketers are trying various techniques to trick the search engines into positioning them higher in search results (SERP). These techniques are considered cheating by many internet users. It is up to you wheter you want to risk discovery by the search engines or flames from other marketers by implementing them. These tricks do not work with every search engine, and if it is discovered you are trying to dupe the search engines, some may not list you at all. They have been programed to detect somo of these techniques and you will penalized in some way if you are discovered
